Social Enterprises

The program of social enterprises at the Orpe Human Rights Advocates is designed for both business and social goals. Our main purpose is to promote, encourage, and transform lives from no income or low-income status to self-sufficient income status. We expect to create an environment deemed to provide income generation opportunities that meet the basic needs of people who live in poverty. The sustainable and earned income from sales will be reinvested in our mission.

Our goal is to avoid dependency on philanthropy, grant money, donations of the federal programs, and reach the level in which we can sustain ourselves over the long term. One of our goals is to strive for the expansion by replicating the model to other communities to generate more impact. As a mixed model (nonprofit and for-profit), we expect to be able to control the curriculum and funding of the programs. Our vision is designed in such that greater impact directly correlates to a great profit. Investors and business partners today want to know that the organizations they choose are doing more than just providing a product or service. They look for organizations that are doing actions of a good cause. They will feel a special connection to organizations whose values align with their own.
